About Us

We are a Mother-Daughter team, communicating long-distance; figuring out how to be both loving and transparent. Every week we explore a growing-up theme or current life experience from both the mom perspective and the daughter point of view.

If you are a new mom, we have some tips based on our experiences. If you’re a young adult, we are working through the challenges of an adult mom-daughter relationship in real time! Our relationship is growing everyday because of this podcast, and we hope it can be a place of encouragement and empowerment for you too!

When Ingrid went away to college across the country, she and I didn’t talk to each other much. Our relationship was reduced to short texts on logistics and “send money.”

I brainstormed how to keep us connected.  A podcast, I thought, would be a forcing function to get us talking once in a while. Since other people may hear our conversations, maybe we’d even branch out past the topics of logistics and “send money.” That is the origin story of Hi Mom, Let’s Talk!

After two-and-a-half years of podcasting, our mission remains the same:  to keep talking to each other. We practice Mother-Daughter conversations that are loving, yet raw and transparent. I’ve learned that our relationship is strengthened when I’m bold enough to tackle the awkward conversations and invite Mom into my adult life. And I learn so much from her perspective.

We aim to create a safe and generous atmosphere that will empower you as moms and daughters to find the relationship with each other you are looking for too.
